About Me

London 2014- Big Ben
I'm currently a teacher within the Surrey School District (36) of British Columbia.  However, I originally began my teaching career in the Chilliwack School District (33).  That being said, my journey through education has relatively just begun.  I'm officially three years into my career and have been a TTOC for a better part of that time.  While two of those three years have been spent TTOCing, I did have the privilege of becoming a valued member of Sullivan Heights Secondary for the 2013/2014 school year in the English, Library, and Learning Support departments.  It was at Sullivan Heights where I gained my enthusiasm for the Learning Commons and as a result, have decided to pursue a graduate diploma in the field!

Apart from my experience as an educator, the following is a short list of my likes and dislikes that make me who I am!
Quincy at Boundary Bay

1.  Avid dog lover (with my dog Quincy at the top of the list, obviously!)

2.  Obsessive sports fan and soccer player
I have a hockey pool that takes up WAY too much of my time, it's embarrassing really.
Also, I've been playing soccer for 21 years and counting.

3.  Aspiring world traveller
Though I have only been to a few countries thus far, I have     dreams of travelling to many more!
Some places I've been:  Nicaragua, Scotland, England, Ireland, and Mexico amongst various                                                                                        places within Canada and the United States.

4.  Appetizers
If I could substitute an assortment of appetizers for each meal and still maintain a decent BMI, I would.

5.  Movies and TV Shows

I knowingly get caught up in reality TV shows such as the Bachelor and Survivor.

6.  Novels
Being a secondary school teacher, I try to stay on top of the hottest teen books.  In turn, I usually end up enjoying them!  My most recent accomplishment: Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) by Mindy Kaling and Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn.

7.  Shopping
 Hate it.

8.  Animal Shirts
Love them for some strange reason..

As I continue to grow along with my Personal Learning Network, I intend to use this blog as a source of collaboration, inspiration, and reflection.
